Jeremey Lavoi is from Lake Charles, Louisiana; home to
Cajun food, casinos, and Contraband Days. He has been
telling stories in one form or another since he was a
child obsessed with comic books, punk rock, and
skateboarding. His passions indoctrinated him with a
strong do-it-yourself ethic that he applied in his
early adulthood. He was a founding member of the Grass
Roots Collective, the group responsible for the first
and only skater owned skatepark in Lake Charles, LA.
He also published a ‘zine called Jaded that chronicled
the Lake Charles skate scene.
Jeremey had a diverse college experience that started
in the Commercial Art Program at Sowela Technical
College in Lake Charles and ended with a Bachelors of
Arts in Creative Writing from San Francisco State
University. Along the way he honed his story telling
craft, learned valuable skills in both graphic design
and video production, and developed a life long love
for photography. He even had a photograph published in
a small literary magazine called Edgar.
While attending San Francisco State University,
Jeremey worked at Tech TV on a late night talk show
called Unscrewed. There he realized that video and
film production was the perfect medium for both his
technical skill set and love for story telling. That
epiphany brought him to Current TV were he was hired
one month before the network launched as part of the
original Google Current team.
Jeremey’s career at Current TV soon expanded beyond
his role on Google Current. He also produced pods on
the ground in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. Then,
he was recruited for the Yahoo! Current project headed
by Madeline Smithberg. Together with skateboard
industry legend Steve Ruge, he produced a daily Action
Sports news show called the Yahoo! Current Action
Buzz. While Producing the ‘Action Buzz, he also
traveled the country producing pods about eccentric
and inspiring characters in the Action Sports realm.
After the Yahoo! Project, Jeremey worked as an editor,
shooter, and producer on projects for numerous Current
TV departments, including Radar, VC2, L.A. Originals,
and S.F. Originals.
Jeremey has an intense passion for telling stories. He
brings a well-rounded skill set and do-it-yourself
sensibility to Jaded Multimedia.
Jeremey does not think of pigs as filthy animals. |
